A tropical depression formed Sunday in the Atlantic Ocean and is expected to become a tropical storm later in the day, according to the National Hurricane Center. [National Hurricane Center]

Tropical storm Gert formed Sunday in the Atlantic Ocean..

According to the National Hurricane Center, the storm is not expected to make landfall. It will likely stay east of the United States as its travels from its formation spot east of the Bahamas.

The storm will likely remain at that intensity as it cuts northeast Monday night.

    TAMPA — More than 20 people spoke in favor of a proposed ordinance that would require dog trainers and dog day cares to be licensed during a Hillsborough County Commission's meeting Wednesday.
