Hankering for deer meat? Arby's to serve venison nationwide next week

Abry's will have its venison sandwich available as supplies last across the country starting Oct. 21.

If McDonald's return of Szechuan sauce wasn't enough of a "limited time only" fast food adventure for you, Arby's announced its bringing back its venison sandwich this month.

And unlike the McDonald's sauce debacle last week — Arby's swears there will be enough sandwiches, and they will be at every location in America.

The deer-meat sandwich was offered last fall during a limited time in select stores, but the chain known for its roast beef says because of its popularity, the sandwich is making a comeback on Oct. 21.

"The positive response to our limited offering of venison last year was so widespread and passionate that we knew we had to find a way to offer it nationwide," said Jim Taylor, Arby's chief marking officer, in a news release.

Arby's describes the sandwich as a piece of thick-cut venison steak topped with crispy onions and juniper berry sauce on a toasted roll.

The closest anyone in Florida could get to the sandwich last year was a Georgia location. The chain says it will have the sandwich as supplies last, and it expects them to go quickly.

Arby's is also testing out an elk sandwich in three stores in Montana, Colorado and Wyoming.
