Lee Elementary students and staff, displaced by Tuesday night's devastating fire, will share the campus of Lockhart Elementary Magnet School, a mile and a half away at 3719 N 17th Street in Tampa, the Hillsborough County School District announced Wednesday.

Lockhart Elementary is next door to Young Middle Magnet School, where older Lee students will spend the first couple of weeks until portable classrooms can be prepared at Lockhart.

"Lee Elementary and the district have received an outpouring of support from other schools and the community," the district said in its announcement. "The district is also coordinating with other schools, asking school staffs from across the district, to roll up their sleeves and help set up the new classroom space at Lockhart Elementary this Friday, September 15."

In addition, Superintendent Jeff Eakins authorized an emergency supplement for every full-time staff member at Lee. They will each receive a $1,000 emergency supplement in their bank accounts on Friday so they can replenish the supplies and personal items that they lost.

Grief counselors will be available beginning Thursday morning at Lockhart.
