Time Travel: St. Pete Vintage Bash
What’s old is what’s up at this retro-centric event at St. Petersburg’s Hollander Hotel on Sunday. The poolside St. Pete Vintage Bash celebrates cars, bikes and swimwear. Enter your bike in the motorcycle contest, or don your 1950s bathing suit for a Guys and Gals Swimwear contest. Check out vintage cars by Burghounds Car Club and new motorcycles from St. Pete Powersports and Euro Cycles of St. Petersburg. Feathers, Fate & Steel Boutique will be there in its vintage airstream. Throwback jams from DJ Sugarbear and rockabilly tunes from the Hot Rod Hornets set the vibe. It’s free to attend and runs from 2-6 p.m. 421 Fourth Ave. N.
Childishly Stylish: SoBel Kids Fashion Week
Few things are as cute as a stylin’ kid, so it’s only proper that they get their own fashion week. SoBel Kids Fashion Week, which is really a weekend, sets off Friday and runs through Sunday at the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. The event features 10 designers and has an international twist with Mexican, Indian and African designs by Arturo Novoa, Shruti Kapila and Akanbi, respectively. Kid designers Sophia and Bella are also showing their creations, and one of the emcees is Madison Harrison, a 10-year-old photographer who appeared on the Steve Harvey Show. Fun activities for kids and performances round out the weekend. The event benefits the Children’s Cancer Center. $15-$100. sobelkidsfashionweek.com.
Body Positive: Finding Ashley Stewart
Plus-size retailer Ashley Stewart is holding a nationwide search for one fabulous woman who embodies the brand’s emphasis on confidence, strength and fierceness. The search is focused on finding an “influencer,” so it’s not just a model search based on looks. If that sounds like you, head over to Tampa’s University Mall on Saturday. Twelve finalists will be selected to walk in a fashion show that day and interview with a judging panel for a chance to become Ashley Stewart 2017 at the finale event in New York City. The winner will receive an Ashley Stewart gift card, Creme of Nature hair care, Iman Cosmetics gift bags and will be featured on Ashley Stewart social media pages. There will be swag bags, giveaways and a raffle for a gift basket. If you want to compete, come with hair and makeup already done. Registration is 11:30 a.m. to
1:30 p.m., and the entire event runs until 5 p.m. 2200 E Fowler Ave. facebook.com/byashleystewart.
